Arsenal, Manchester United set to table formal bids to sign Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal and Manchester United are set to present their offers to sign Viktor Gyokeres as a deal for the ‘unstoppable’ striker could be close.

According to Record, Arsenal and Manchester United are the teams that are pushing to make offers to sign Viktor Gyokeres. The striker described as ‘unstoppable’ for his goalscoring exploits in Portugal is firmly on the radars of the two Premier League giants, who have a huge task on their hands to convince Sporting CP of a sale.

Viktor Gyokeres is one of the main names on the list of Arsenal and Manchester United, as the Premier League duo continued their search for a new striker. Both those teams are lacking a clinical centre-forward in their ranks, as they view the 27-year-old goal machine as a viable target in this summer window.

Gyokeres has been left frustrated by Sporting CP, who have reportedly backed away from a ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ with the striker when he chose to stay put last summer. The indication is that the Portuguese giants allegedly accepted a formula to let the striker leave for a fee of around €65 million, which is significantly lower than his €100 million release clause.

However, in the last few days, the dispute between the Swede and Sporting CP has become public, with indications that the Portuguese club are now demanding a fee of €80 million. Hence, there are tensions in the background, and Viktor Gyokeres wants a move away from the club to possibly join one of Arsenal or Manchester United, who are poised to make offers.

Arsenal made a fresh push to sign Gyokeres, with reports stating that sporting director Andrea Berta held a meeting with the Swedish striker’s agent. The Gunners are also simultaneously negotiating for Benjamin Sesko with RB Leipzig, with the fans still unclear which striker represents the club’s top target.

Arsenal and Manchester United to table bids

Manchester United have been interested in Viktor Gyokeres ever since missing out on new Chelsea striker Liam Delap. The presence of Ruben Amorim makes it for a great reading into those links with the ‘unstoppable’ striker, as the club does need a solid presence to lead the line next season.

Arsenal are considered slight favourites due to their presence in the UEFA Champions League, as the Gunners as well as Manchester United are now poised to table bids for the striker. It remains to be seen what those clubs offer for the 27-year-old goal machine, as Sporting CP might stick with their renewed stance of demanding €80 million for the forward.
