According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Kim Min-jae is the subject of interest from Al-Nassr. The Saudi Pro League giants are the front-runners to sign Bayern Munich defender in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the South Korean centre-back is open to joining Al-Nassr, with the development dealing a blow to Chelsea and Newcastle United.
Kim Min-jae has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Bayern Munich from Napoli in July 2023. The Asian defender was among the most highly sought-after centre-backs in the world when he moved to Germany. However, he has not been as impressive as he was during his spell with Napoli.
The 28-year-old has been in and out of the Bayern Munich starting lineup in the last two years, turning out 79 times thus far while chipping in with four goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Kim’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs across Europe, including Chelsea and Newcastle United, setting their sights on him.
The South Korean international has been on Chelsea’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, considering Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile face an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Bayern Munich defender is a viable target for Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United’s interest in Kim Min-jae makes sense. Sven Botman has struggled with fitness issues in the last 12 months. In addition, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, and Jamaal Lascelles are on the wrong side of 30. So, Newcastle United can do with a new centre-back in the summer transfer window, with Kim an option worth considering.
Apart from Chelsea and Newcastle United, the Serie A trio of AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus are also keen on signing the former Napoli defender. However, Kim’s European suitors may not have the chance to land him, with Al-Nassr in the pole position to secure his services.
In addition, the 28-year-old South Korean international is keen on joining the Saudi Pro League outfit in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Chelsea, Newcastle United, and others can tempt Kim to snub Al-Nassr to remain in Europe.
