Leroy Sane set to join Galatasaray after Arsenal snub

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have missed out on Leroy Sane as the former Manchester City star is closing in on a move to Galatasaray.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Leroy Sane could end up making a move to Turkiye this summer. The Bayern Munich winger has been linked with a move away from the club for some time now. While multiple top clubs from across Europe are keen on his signature, he is on the verge of joining Galatasaray.

Sane made a name for himself while playing for Manchester City before joining Bayern in the summer of 2020. The German international has only gone from strength to strength over the years. While he remains an important part of their squad and ended up contributing towards 19 goals last season, Sane’s future has been up in the air because of his contract situation.

His deal with Bayern runs out at the end of the month and he could end up being a free agent in the near future. While he is a part of the German club’s squad for the Club World Cup squad and they are even ready to offer him a short-term deal if they make it beyond the group stage, Sane’s long-term future might be away from the club.

Bayern would love to have the 29-year-old in their squad for a few more years but it no longer looks like a possibility. While multiple Premier League clubs are keen on Sane’s signature, he prefers joining Arsenal and was in talks with the North London club.

Sane to move to Turkiye

The Gunners did submit an initial offer to convince him about a move to London but it wasn’t good enough. Apparently, Sane even waited for an improved offer from Mikel Arteta’s team but it even arrived as a result, he has now made a decision on his future.

The German international is ready to move to Turkiye. He is set to join Galatasaray this summer as the club have assured him that they will bring in a few more top players. Their project and the wages on the table seem to have convinced Sane.

While Fenerbahce were willing to offer a better paycheck, Galatasaray’s project was more attractive to him. Sane’s decision is certainly a massive blow for Arsenal, who are looking to add more quality to their attack. The German international not only has a lot of experience, he can feature on either flank.

He could have competed with Gabriel Martinelli for a place in the XI and could have even covered for Bukayo Saka. Signing Sane could have gone a long way in helping them might for major titles.
