Crystal Palace step up talks to sign Ousmane Diomande

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace have intensified their pursuit of Sporting CP defensive sensation Ousmane Diomande.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace are keen on acquiring the services of Ousmane Diomande as they look to reinforce their backline ahead of next season. Oliver Glasner has given the green light to the move, and negotiations are already underway. The player is reportedly keen on making the switch to the Premier League.

Diomande hasn’t looked back since joining the Portuguese club at the start of 2023 from FC Midtjylland. Not only has he established himself as a key figure in Sporting’s first team, but his consistent performances have also put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs.

While the 21-year-old Ivorian international still has two years remaining on his contract, a move away could be on the cards if the right offer arrives. Crystal Palace have emerged as a potential destination for the promising centre-back.

Crystal Palace want to sign Diomande

Glasner is keen on adding more quality to his backline this summer as he looks to help them take the next step. Amidst uncertainty around the future of Marc Guehi, signing a world-class replacement is one of their top priorities, and they have identified Diomande as an ideal fit for their system as well as the project.

The Eagles have already stepped up their pursuit of the 21-year-old. They are in talks with Sporting, and negotiations seem to be progressing well. The Ivorian international is keen on making the switch to England, which is certainly a boost for Place.

With Glasner giving the green light to his signing, the London club are ready to do everything in their power to bring him to the club. However, it won’t be that straightforward as the Portuguese giants will demand a significant fee.

More importantly, other top clubs could rival them in their pursuit of Diomande. Having already enquired about his availability, the Eagles have now stepped up their interest, which suggests they are quite serious about bringing him to the Premier League.
