According to Record via Sport Witness, Viktor Gyokeres considers Arsenal as his dream destination and is eager to make the switch. The Gunners are very much interested and engaged in extensive talks, but a new, improved offer is yet to arrive from the Premier League giants might have been held up by Sporting CP’s demands.
A lot is going on in the background at Sporting CP, with regard to Viktor Gyokeres’s future, as the striker is keen to leave the club. There have been many suitors chasing his signature including Manchester United and Juventus as per recent reports.
The headline suitor currently is Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta identifying the Swede as one of their top targets. The Gunners are parallelly negotiating for Benjamin Sesko over with RB Leipzig, as the feeling is that one of those two strikers will arrive at the Emirates.
A report on TalkSport claimed that Gyokeres had told friends and family that he expects to join Arsenal in the summer. The Gunners are his dream destination, and he certainly hopes that things can be cleared in the background with Sporting CP.
Arsenal reportedly made a take-it-or-leave-it offer with the figures quoted pointing at a €55 million plus €10 million offer. There are further complications in the background as his agent claims they have a pact with Sporting CP to allow the player to leave at around €70 million all-inclusive.
Another report stated Gyokeres could force an exit, although those claims are yet to be proven. Arsenal may not have clarity on the final fee Sporting CP would require to sanction a sale, with the Portuguese club now holding out for €80 million while the agent has stuck that they should allow a departure for €60 million plus €10 million.
Another issue that surfaced of late is that should Sporting receive and reject an official offer of €60 million or more they are bound to pay the agent a €6 million commission on that. However, should that materialise, then the Portuguese club will demand the full €100 million price point for the €80 million-rated goal machine which also happens to be his release clause. Hence, once these things get cleared up, Arsenal could make their move.
