According to a report by Sabah, as relayed by Sport Witness, Fred is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their midfield unit in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile midfielder. So, the Fenerbahce mainstay has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
The Toffees have established contact with the former Manchester United midfielder over a possible move in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce will demand around €15 million to part ways with him after forking out €9 million to secure his services two years ago.
Fred has come leaps and bounds since joining Fenerbahce from Manchester United in August 2023. The 32-year-old is one of several players to go from strength to strength after leaving the struggling Premier League giants, and he has been a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Turkish outfit.
The Brazilian midfielder enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign, contributing to 13 goals in 45 outings across all competitions by finding the back of the net five times and providing eight assists. Meanwhile, the player’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Everton.
Everton’s interest in Fred is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window after parting ways with Abdoulaye Doucoure as a free agent. In addition, they are yet to complete a permanent move for Carlos Alcaraz. So, with Idrissa Gueye in the twilight of his career, Everton can do with another midfielder this summer.
So, several candidates, including Habib Diarra, have emerged on Everton’s radar, with the Fenerbahce mainstay also a viable target for the Merseyside outfit. They have approached the experienced midfielder’s entourage to discuss a possible summer move. Meanwhile, the Turkish giants are demanding around €15 million to part ways with him.
Fenerbahce forked out €9 million to secure Fred’s services nearly two years ago. So, it is hardly surprising that the Yellow Canaries want to make a profit from his departure. A price tag of €15 million should not deter Everton, and it will be interesting to see if a summer moves see the light of day.
