Ruben Amorim green-lights Andre Onana loan exit as John Victor eyed as replacement

Ruben Amorim is ready to send Andre Onana out on loan as Botafogo stopper John Victor is eyed as a possible replacement.

According to The Sun, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has decided to offload underfire Andre Onana even on loan, as Botafogo stopper John Victor is being eyed as his replacement. The Brazilian keeper’s modest £6 million release clause could play a pivotal role in the club’s decision-making when finding a replacement for the Cameroonian.

Manchester United are intent on making changes to their goalkeeping ranks as second choice Altay Biyandir is certain to depart alongside current No.1 Andre Onana. The latter has amassed 101 appearances in the two years he has spent at the club since making a reported £47 million move from Inter Milan.

The Cameroonian international has come in for plenty of criticisms during his stint at the club, with Manchester United actively pursuing targets to replace him. Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez was considered the preferred replacement for the player, although the costs involved in a deal for the Argentine stopper would make the deal difficult.

Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi is another target, although he too will cost upwards of £35-40 million as per recent reports. There is a cheaper alternative in the market in the form of Botafogo keeper John Victor, who has a modest £6 million release clause, with Manchester United interested in the Brazilian.

Manchester United will pursue a new keeper only if they can offload Onana, which may prove tricky owing to his high wages. The £47 million mainstay did have interest from AS Monaco earlier, although there are doubts about whether the French side are pursuing a deal with vigour.

Ruben Amorim wants Andre Onana gone

Ruben Amorim wants to get rid of Onana at all costs, even if it means sending him out on loan for one season. There is no future for the under-fire goalkeeper at the club anymore, and Manchester United must maneuver the challenges ahead in even loaning him out.

The idea of signing John as a £6 million replacement would be seen as a good market opportunity, although the Brazilian’s lack of big experience in the top five leagues would cast fresh doubts on him replacing Onana. Hence, all eyes will be on Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation as the primary goal for the club would lean towards finding a suitor for the underfire Cameroonian international.
