Liverpool could offer Ben Doak in a deal for Marc Guehi

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are considering offering Ben Doak in a deal to sign Crystal Palace defensive mainstay Marc Guehi.

Liverpool have been quite active in the ongoing transfer window. While they have already made some high-profile signings, the Reds are not done yet. They want to bring in a world-class centre-back and have their eyes set on Marc Guehi.

Striking a deal with Crystal Palace certainly won’t be easy, but according to a report from The Sun, the Merseyside club are ready to offer Ben Doak in a swap deal to sign the English international.

Guehi has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Eagles back in 2021. He has established himself as one of their mainstays, and his consistent performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs.

Liverpool are looking to add another top centre-back to their squad as Jarell Quansah is all set to leave the club. With him joining Bayer Leverkusen, the Reds are looking to replace him with Guehi.

Liverpool are looking to lower Guehi’s price tag

While the 24-year-old is set to enter the final year of his deal at Selhurst Park, the Reds still won’t be able to sign him for a cut-price fee. Steve Parish is renowned for standing firm on his valuations, and he certainly won’t let go of one of his best players unless there is a bumper offer on the table.

The Eagles reportedly want around £50 million for the English international. Having spent a fortune on other targets, the Reds are looking to bring down the asking price by making Ben Doak a part of the deal. The teenage attacking sensation had an impressive loan spell at Middlesbrough, and he is valued at around £25 million.

Having contributed towards 10 goals in his 24 outings last season, the Eagles are certainly interested in him, but it will be interesting to see how much they value the 19-year-old. Liverpool are hoping a swap deal will lower the asking price significantly and convince Palace to sell one of their biggest stars. It won’t be that straightforward, and negotiations might go on for a while.
