According to a report from Football Insider, Gabriel Schluter is all set to join Liverpool as they have an agreement in place with Blackpool. The Merseyside club have managed to beat Fulham to his signature, and a medical has already been scheduled.
Schluter has been doing wonders for Blackpool at the youth level. His performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs in the country. The 16-year-old made his first-team debut for them last November when he came off the bench in an EFL Trophy tie against Liverpool’s Under-21 side.
Following his debut, manager Steve Bruce did admit that it would not be a surprise if he soon joined a Premier League outfit. Just over six months later, the young winger is now set to join the Reds, with a six-figure fee agreed between the two clubs.
The Reds have been scouting the 16-year-old for some time, just like many other top clubs, but they have managed to beat the competition to his signature. Schluter is all set to undergo his medical as a new Liverpool player next week.
While the youngster is not yet ready to be a part of Arne Slot’s first team, given his massive potential, he could soon make that jump. The Reds have a history of snapping up top talents from the lower divisions in England, and they seem set to sign another one.
Apart from the Merseyside club, even Fulham were very keen on adding him to their squad. They were quite impressed with his consistent performances at the youth level. It could have been easier for him to break into Marco Silva’s first team, but they have failed to secure his services as Liverpool have acted swiftly.
The Reds stepped up their efforts and struck a deal with Blackpool without wasting any time. The teenage attacking sensation is expected to start with Liverpool’s Under-18 team, where he will continue his development. Given his rapid rise and the promise he has shown, it would not be a surprise if Schluter progresses through the ranks quickly.
