Tyler Dibling could be set for an immediate return to the Premier League as multiple top clubs are after his signature. Liverpool and Newcastle United are quite keen on signing the English youth international. According to Mick Brown via Football Insider, Crystal Palace have entered the race for his signature.
The teenage attacking sensation has emerged as a surprise target for the Eagles, who are looking to bolster their squad after securing Europa League football for next season. Oliver Glasner’s team have some big plans for the summer, and signing Dibling is one of them. They are confident about beating the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle.
While speaking to Football Insider, the former Manchester United scout said: “If Dibling leaves Southampton he has to be smart about where he goes,”
“There’s been interest from Newcastle and Liverpool, but if he goes to either of those two it would be as one for the future rather than an immediate first-team option.
“From his point of view, he needs to be playing regular football at this stage of his career.
“Somewhere like Crystal Palace would be a better move for him.
“I’m told they’re interested, and would be prepared to offer him more regular football.
“They’re being ambitious after qualifying for Europe and want to improve their squad.
“So if he’s smart, he’ll look at Palace and what they’ve done with the likes of Eze, Wharton and Olise, and he’ll think he can follow in their footsteps.
“For Palace, I think they’ll believe they can beat other team to signing him, and they’ll be patient with his development while he’s there.
“The only issue is whether they could afford him.
“Southampton are asking for a lot of money and it’s putting teams off, so a lot will depend on whether they’re prepared to negotiate his asking price.”
While the Saints struggled throughout the 2024/25 season and finished bottom of the points table, Dibling did put in quite a few impressive performances. As a result, multiple Premier League clubs are ready to offer him an opportunity to continue in the top flight.
Newcastle and Liverpool scouts are quite impressed with the young winger’s performances, and they want to add him to their squad this summer. Both clubs are constantly on the lookout for young stars with massive potential, and Dibling certainly fits the bill.
While they do have the financial strength to strike a deal for his services, Brown feels Dibling needs to be very cautious with his next step. Joining clubs like Newcastle and Liverpool could hamper his progress, as he is unlikely to have much game time there.
Instead, a move to Crystal Palace could actually do wonders for him. The Eagles are keen on his signature, and they can certainly offer him an important role under Glasner. However, Southampton’s massive £55 million asking price is beyond their reach.
If the Saints agree to compromise on the price tag, Crystal Palace are confident about beating the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle. They feel they can convince Dibling to choose them ahead of their rivals.
The Eagles have a proven track record of signing young players from lower divisions and relegated clubs, providing them with the ideal platform to succeed, something that could work in their favour as they look to lure Dibling.
