According to Gianluca Di Marzio via Tipsbladet, West Ham United are interested in acquiring the services of Mads Hermansen as they look to further strengthen their goalkeeping position. The Danish shot-stopper is unlikely to continue at Leicester City following their relegation to the Championship, and the Hammers could provide him with the opportunity to continue in the top flight.
Hermansen came up the ranks and made a name for himself at Brondby before joining the Foxes in the summer of 2023. He had an impressive debut campaign in the Championship as he helped them secure promotion to the top flight with 13 clean sheets in his 44 league outings.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go according to plan for him in the Premier League as he ended up conceding 58 goals in his 28 league outings with just one clean sheet to his name. The numbers don’t really do justice to his talent, and it was also down to the fact that he didn’t have the best of defence to help him out.
While his contract at Leicester runs until the summer of 2028, he is unlikely to feature for them in the Championship next season. The 24-year-old wants to play at the highest level, and West Ham are ready to offer him a chance to secure an immediate return to the English top flight.
The Hammers are looking to add more quality between the sticks as they look to strengthen Graham Potter’s squad. With Lukasz Fabianski set to leave the club, the London club do need another goalkeeper despite having the likes of Wes Foderingham and Alphonse Areola.
Hermansen could come in and battle Areola for a place in the starting XI. They really like the Danish goalkeeper, and he could become their undisputed starter going forward. He could prove to be a great addition to their squad.
Di Marzio believes Hermansen is unlikely to continue at Leicester, and a move to West Ham could actually work in his favour. With three years left on his deal, the Foxes are in full control of the situation and could certainly demand a significant fee for him.
