Manchester United expect Rasmus Hojlund to leave amid Inter Milan links

Manchester United are reportedly expecting Rasmus Hojlund to find a new club this summer amid heavy interest from Inter Milan.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Manchester United are still expecting Rasmus Hojlund to leave the club this summer despite claims that the striker would love to stay. Ruben Amorim does not view the Dane in his plans as he has interest from Inter Milan.

Rasmus Hojlund had a terrible season for Manchester United, which magnified the fact that he was another failed investment from the club. The Danish striker had a hand in 14 goals and assists across all competitions, with a large chunk of it coming in the UEFA Europa League, where they lost out in the final against Tottenham.

Hojlund is not seen as a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans ahead of the new season. He had links with Inter Milan at the start of the window, and despite claims of talks between all parties, no move has materialised. It could have been down to Manchester United’s asking price and how the Nerazzurri want a deal structured, as earlier reports claimed they were eager to bring the Danish forward on loan with a buy option.

Following recent claims that Hojlund would like to stay at the club despite having the idea that Manchester United are actively buying a striker, a move to Inter Milan might be on hold. However, the Red Devils are expecting the Dane to find a new club, and that could bring the Italian giants back into the mix, as long as the price is right.

While there is a feeling that Amorim would like a new frontman ahead of the new season, he might stay cautious on the Hojlund stance if they cannot land a new striker. Hence, the early days of pre-season might paint a clearer picture of the striker’s future.

Manchester United keen on signing a new striker

As the club have actively engaged in trying to sign a new striker, they have suffered a few setbacks in pursuit of targets. Liam Delap chose Chelsea over Manchester United, and Viktor Gyokeres is closing in on Arsenal as a reference. There are links with free agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who might be viewed as an underwhelming option by a section of their fanbase.

Ollie Watkins is another option that Manchester United are considering, and big names like Victor Osimhen have slipped out of their range as things stand. Should Manchester United end up bringing the new striker they have in their plans, it would all but end the time for Hojlund at Old Trafford, with Inter Milan seen as the big suitor for the 22-year-old at the current moment.
