Viktor Gyokeres signing could convince William Saliba to stay at Arsenal

Arsenal could potentially convince stars like William Saliba to continue at the club with signings of the quality of Viktor Gyokeres.

According to TBR, signings of the quality of Viktor Gyokeres could boost Arsenal’s chances of convincing established stars like William Saliba to continue with the club. The Frenchman is due for a new contract, and with the arrival of a world-class attacker like the Swede, it would help persuade players like the defender to sign a new deal.

Arsenal are moving with intent in the transfer market, as they are closing in on a few signings. The Gunners have had a productive window so far after confirming the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi, while the arrival of Christian Norgaard seems imminent.

A new striker has been the priority for new sporting director Andrea Berta, as Arsenal have since advanced in pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres. The Gunners have chosen the Swede as their main target in the last few days, following parallel negotiations with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

The Gunners are hopeful of sealing the Gyokeres transfer, although they are yet to agree on a fee with Sporting CP, with the deal moving in the right direction. The team had apparent issues with scoring goals last season, as the world-class attacker would certainly solve that problem, as well as help solve another one.

Once the transfer business concludes at the club this summer, Berta will switch his attention to some pending renewals of key stars. Arsenal have already agreed new deals with Gabriel Magalhaes and Myles Lewis-Skelly, while there are three more important extensions pending in the background with the likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Ethan Nwaneri yet to commit their future.

Viktor Gyokeres’ signing could help keep William Saliba?

The report stresses the idea that Arsenal’s ability to sign a world-class attacker like Gyokeres could persuade established stars like William Saliba to sign a new deal. Arsenal are eager to extend the Frenchman’s contract, which expires in 2027, similar to Saka. The signing of players like Gyokeres could show big ambition that could theoretically persuade Saliba to commit.

There were concerns amid Real Madrid’s interest a while back, but with two years remaining in Saliba’s current deal, the Gunners are somewhat relaxed. They will want to wrap up the extensions this summer or at least during the early period of the new campaign, as dragging it to the point that the players will have a year left could add layers of complications.
