Arsenal vying for Jean-Matteo Bahoya, high price tag revealed

Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 20-year-old French attacking prospect Jean-Matteo Bahoya from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt next year.

According to a report by German outlet Sport1, Jean-Matteo Bahoya is the subject of interest of Arsenal. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile attacker next year. So, the 20-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt winger has emerged as a target for the North London club.

The Frenchman is unhappy at the Bundesliga club due to a lack of game time, and a move away from the Deutsche Bank Park may be on the cards. However, Eintracht Frankfurt will demand an eye-watering sum of €80 million to part ways with Bahoya, representing the German outfit’s second-highest sale.

Who is Jean-Matteo Bahoya?

Jean-Matteo Bahoya has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Angers SCO in January 2024. A native of Montfermeil, the 20-year-old spent his formative years in France, passing through the academies at FE Trelaze and ES Andard Brain before graduating from the youth division at Angers SCO.

However, the French winger has struggled for regular starts at Eintracht Frankfurt, managing only 694 minutes of game time in 15 appearances across all competitions thus far in the 2025/26 season. So, a move away from the Bundesliga club may be on the cards for Bahoya, and Arsenal will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Jean-Matteo Bahoya is understandable. The Gunners are scouring the market for a wide attacker, even though Mikel Arteta has a stacked offensive unit in his squad. Leandro Trossard faces an uncertain future at the Emirates, and he is on the wrong side of 30.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Arsenal several years ago. So, the North London outfit should sign a winger who can compete with Martinelli on the left flank if Trossard departs from the Emirates next year. Several candidates, including Rafael Leao, have thus emerged on Arsenal’s radar, with Bahoya also a viable target.

However, the 20-year-old Eintracht Frankfurt winger will not come cheap, as the Bundesliga club will demand around €80 million to part ways with the Frenchman. That value represents the second-highest sale if a suitor would pay that amount. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will be willing to shell out €80 million to sign the French winger next year.
