The Spanish youth international has enjoyed a sensational rise at Elche, attracting significant interest from across Europe. While the La Liga outfit recently secured his future with a new deal, it has not deterred interested clubs, who continue to monitor him closely.
According to Ekrem Konur, Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid are all keen on acquiring the services of Rodrigo Mendoza, and they continue to monitor him ahead of a potential transfer. Mikel Arteta’s team look set to rival City and Madrid to get their hands on the 20-year-old midfield genius.
Mendoza has come up the ranks at Elche and has been a part of their first team since the summer of 2023. He has been involved in a total of 61 matches and has even contributed towards eight goals.
The youngster has managed to establish himself as a key figure in the team, and his impressive performances have attracted interest from across Europe. While the 20-year-old prefers playing as a central midfielder, he is capable enough to feature in any role in the centre of the park.
Rodrigo Mendoza’s versatility and massive potential are massive reasons why top clubs are ready to push hard for his signature. Elche were aware of the increasing interest in his services; as a result, they ended up securing his future with a new three-year deal back in August.
While they managed to keep him at the club for now, they will struggle to keep hold of him beyond this season, with Arsenal, City and Real Madrid monitoring him. Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his midfield rotation and feels Mendoza could be a great investment for the long run.
The North London club are set to rival City and Madrid, who are constantly looking for young players with massive potential. In the Spanish club’s case, they do need more quality in midfield as Xabi Alonso feels they do not have the needed depth.
