According to a report from CaughtOffside, Ruben Neves is keen on securing a return to the Premier League. He is all set to part ways with Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal amidst interest from the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham.
All three clubs are very keen on signing the 28-year-old, who did wonders for Wolves back in the day. With his contract at the Saudi club running down, the Portuguese international could be available for a bargain fee of just €20 million.
Neves came up the ranks at FC Porto and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining Wolves back in 2017. He had an impressive six-year spell at the Premier League club before moving to the Middle East.
While the majority of the top clubs in Europe were keen on his signature, Neves decided to join the Saudi Pro League on a massive paycheck. The 28-year-old has been one of the standout performers for Al-Hilal in recent seasons, but he looks set for a return to Europe.
With his contract running out at the end of the season, the Portuguese midfielder seems keen on returning to England. He could be available for just €20 million in the upcoming transfer window, and the bargain price will certainly appeal to top clubs.
However, he currently earns £410,000 a week in the Middle East, which is certainly beyond the capabilities of the majority of European clubs. Neves will have to take a significant pay cut if he wants to join United, Newcastle or Tottenham.
Ruben Amorim wants a top-quality midfielder in January to bolster his squad, and Neves, with his Premier League experience, could be just the perfect fit. Meanwhile, Thomas Frank wants an upgrade on his current options, and the former Wolves star can certainly help their cause.
Neves could prove to be a great option for Eddie Howe as well. He will significantly strengthen their midfield rotation, providing much-needed competition to the likes of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes.
