Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks to sign AS Monaco forward George Ilenikhena (19), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Ilenikhena has played a peripheral role since joining the Principality club. This season, the centre-forward has two goals in 13 games. His minutes are limited due to the presence of Folarin Balogun and Mika Biereth, both of whom have been ahead of the Franco-Nigerian player in the pecking order.
A departure this month could be on the cards, Foot Mercato understands. Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks with Monaco over a move. They are proposing a loan with an option to buy. That option is thought to be worth around €25m. Les Monégasques are “interested” by the fee, but would prefer a permanent deal, rather than a loan.
Eintracht Frankfurt, who loaned out Elye Wahi to OGC Nice earlier in the transfer window, could, however, face competition from domestic rivals VfB Stuttgart.
