Liam Rosenior confirmed on Tuesday morning that he has an agreement in principle to take the Chelsea job. It leaves RC Strasbourg Alsace scrambling to find a new manager. A surprise name has now emerged.
Strasbourg have been linked with moves for several managers, including Gary O’Neil, who, according to L’Équipe, is the favourite for the role. However, there is a longer shortlist and Damien Perrinelle’s name may feature on it, Foot Mercato understands.
Perrinelle is known for his work with young players, having managed AS Monaco’s Groupe Élite. He is currently an assistant to Sébastien Pocognoli in the first team. He has been in the first-team set-up since being promoted by Pocognoli’s predecessor, Adi Hutter.
As well as being renowned for his work with young players, an important prerequisite for the Strasbourg job, he is also an English speaker, having spent time as a player in the MLS. His is a profile that Strasbourg are interested in. He already knows Pascal De Maesschalck, Le Racing’s technical director, who, prior to his move to the club back in July 2024, was a co-ordinator for the youth teams at the Principality club.
