Manchester United interested in Igor Thiago

Michael Carrick’s Manchester United are keen on acquiring the services of Brentford attacking mainstay Igor Thiago.

Igor Thiago has taken his game to the next level this season. He has been a standout performer for Brentford, and it has resulted in a lot of interest. Clubs from across Europe are after his signature, and according to a report from Fichajes, Manchester United are also keen on signing the Brazilian striker, as they look to bolster their attack ahead of next season.

Thiago joined the Bees in the summer of 2024 from Club Brugge. Unfortunately, the debut season didn’t go according to plan for him as he could only make eight appearances because of injuries. However, he has completely turned things around this time out.

Following the departure of Yoane Wissa and Brayn Mbeumo, he has emerged as the leader of their attack. He has 19 goal contributions in the ongoing campaign. The 24-year-old’s tally of 17 Premier League goals is only second to Erling Haaland.

He has been in red-hot form through the season, and it has resulted in a lot of interest. With multiple clubs looking to prise him away, the Bees have secured his future with a new long-term deal. They have handed him a significant pay hike and extended his stay until 2031.

United want Thiago at Old Trafford

However, the new deal still might not be enough to keep hold of the Brazilian international for long. Manchester United are one of the clubs that are keen on signing him. The Red Devils want to bolster their attack with a proven goal scorer, and Thiago certainly fits the bill.

While they invested a massive fee on Benjamin Sesko last summer, United are willing to go big again to sign the Brazilian forward. People at Old Trafford have started internal discussions to understand the scope of a potential transfer, which could cost a fortune.

Having secured his future with a new deal, the Bees won’t let him leave for anything less than €80 million. The player is quite happy at his current club; as a result, the Red Devils do have a lot of convincing to do. Meanwhile, there are other top clubs that will make things very difficult for the Manchester-based giants.

United want someone with a strong physical presence and clinical finishing. Thiago certainly fits the bill. The transfer solely demands the Red Devils’ financial and sporting power.
