Rennes goalkeeper Steve Mandanda (40) is expected to leave the Bretons upon the expiry of his contract this June, according to Le Parisien. Mandanda joined Stade Rennais in 2022 as a free agent when his Marseille contract expired. The former France international went on to feature 101 times with Les Rouge et Noir. Mandanda’s status as No. 1 has been revoked following the €15m signing of Brice Samba (31) from Ligue 1 rivals Lens in the winter transfer window.
The outlet understands that Rennes president Arnaud Pouille has made clear to Mandanda that he would not offer him a new contract beyond June 30. Several clubs have enquired with Mandanda regarding his availability. The 2018 World Cup winner is still reportedly in good spirits at Rennes, despite his demotion, and has a good relationship with head coach Habib Beye. It remains to be seen whether Mandanda will pursue his career elsewhere or stick around in Rennes under a new role, or hang up his gloves for good.
