According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Junior Firpo is ready to leave Leeds United in the summer transfer window. A Premier League club may secure the experienced full-back’s services in the summer transfer window, with Everton and West Ham United approaching his representatives over a possible Bosman move.
Junior Firpo has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Leeds United from Barcelona in July 2021. A native of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the player spent his formative years in Spain, passing through the academies at Atletico Benamiel CF, CD Tiro Pichon, and Puerto Malagueño before graduating from the youth division at Real Betis.
The 28-year-old was among the most highly sought-after prospects in the world after breaking into the first-team squad at Real Betis. However, Firpo’s spell with Barcelona did not work out, and he joined Leeds United after two years with the Blaugrana. The experienced full-back has turned out over 100 times thus far for the Whites while chipping in with six goals and 22 assists.
However, the Dominican Republic international’s long-term future at Leeds United is uncertain, as he has entered the final few months of his contract with the West Yorkshire outfit. The situation has piqued the attention of several well-known Premier League clubs, including Everton and West Ham United.
Everton’s interest in Junior Firpo is understandable, even though Vitaliy Mykolenko has been solid for the Merseyside outfit. David Moyes wants another quality left-back in his squad. So, several candidates, including Nuno Tavares, have emerged on Everton’s radar, with the Leeds United star also a viable target.
As for West Ham United, Aaron Cresswell is in the twilight of his career. In addition, Emerson Palmieri faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium after blowing hot and cold this season. So, Firpo is an option worth considering for the East London club.
Apart from Everton and West Ham United, Crystal Palace and AC Milan are also keen on signing the 28-year-old Dominican Republic international. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the Leeds United full-back.
