Arsenal face Tottenham, Newcastle United battle in Bilal El Khannouss chase

Arsenal will have to battle it out with Tottenham and Newcastle United for the signature of Leicester City sensation Bilal El Khannouss.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal are interested in the services of Bilal El Khannouss, who has made quite a name for himself with his impressive performances for Leicester City. While the Gunners are keen on his signature, they will have to battle the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle United, who have been tracking him of late.

The Foxes have not had the best of seasons in the English top flight. They are 19th on the points table, and their relegation is already certain. While the former Premier League champions have struggled, El Khannouss has certainly made the most out of the limited opportunities that he has had.

After coming up the ranks at KRC Genk and impressing with his performances for their first team, the 20-year-old joined the Foxes last summer for £21 million. While the youngster only had limited game time during the first half, he has been a regular under Ruud van Nistelrooy and has put in consistent performances.

Bilal El Khannouss has featured in a total of 34 matches while contributing towards eight goals. The majority of his appearances have come as a number ten, but he can even feature on the left flank when needed. His recent performances, versatility and massive potential have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs in the Premier League.

With Leicester City getting relegated from the Premier League, clubs are gearing up to make a move for the 20-year-old Moroccan international. Arsenal are one of the clubs that are interested in his signature. Mikel Arteta seeks more quality in the final third and El Khannouss can certainly help their cause.

Andrea Berta’s priority is to bring in an upgrade on the left flank. While he has his eyes set on Nico Williams, they could even go ahead with the Moroccan playmaker thanks to his versatility and massive potential. For now, the Gunners have only asked to be kept informed about his situation. They are yet to make a final decision on whether to push for Bilal El Khannouss or not.

Arsenal could face competition

Meanwhile, if Arsenal do go ahead with the move for Bilal El Khannouss, they might have to battle Tottenham and Newcastle United, who have been keeping a close eye on the youngster.

Tottenham certainly need more quality in the final third and with Timo Werner and Richarlison likely to be on the move, El Khannouss could prove to be a valuable addition. He could feature on the left flank as well as compete with James Maddison for a place in the starting XI.

While Newcastle United’s priority will be to reinforce their right flank, they won’t mind investing in a young star who could end up being one of their mainstays in the future. Leicester’s relegation will certainly have an effect on their asking price but they will still look to recoup the amount they forked out last summer.
