According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are ready to acquire the services of Kevin De Bruyne. The Merseyside are plotting a surprise move to sign the Manchester City skipper, who is set to be available for free this summer.
While things didn’t work out for De Bruyne at Chelsea and he was labelled a Premier League flop, the Belgian international turned his career around. A successful spell at Wolfsburg helped him earn a return to England with Manchester City, where he has since flourished.
He has been a part of the City setup for almost a decade now, during which he has won six Premier League titles as well as the Champions League. He has featured in over 400 matches for them and has contributed towards 285 goals.
The 33-year-old is living his final months in Manchester as the club have decided against handing him a new deal. With his contract running out in a few months, he is all set to be a free agent.
While De Bruyne has struggled a bit in recent seasons because of injuries, he still feels he can compete at the highest level for a few more years. Despite his injury struggles he still has 14 goals contributions in his 36 outings this season.
The Belgian international wants to continue in Europe and is open to playing for another club in England. He could have the opportunity to play for rivals Liverpool, who seem to be very much interested in signing the City skipper.
They see this as a great opportunity to bring in one of the best-attacking midfielders in the world for free. His experience could do wonders for the young players around him and when fully fit, the 33-year-old could certainly have a massive impact on the pitch as well.
With multiple top clubs from across Europe pushing for his signature, the Reds do not want to fall behind. As a result, they have already put forward a competitive proposition. People at Anfield will welcome the signing of a player with his experience and ability, even though it will be more of a short-term fix for them. It will certainly be a statement of intent from their end.
