According to Fichajes, Barcelona are ready to offload Ronald Araujo in the summer for a reduced price. The Catalans are now ready to move on from the defender as Hansi Flick does not count on the Uruguayan, as a host of clubs, including Manchester United will be interested following a revised asking price of €50 million.
Back in January, Ronald Araujo was high in demand following strong reports stating the defender was close to quitting Barcelona. Juventus were inches away from landing the versatile Barcelona defender, although the Catalans pulled the plug on any prospective move in the last minute.
Barcelona went on to hand Araujo a new deal until 2031, which in theory secured the defender’s future at the club as well as whatever value they had in mind for the Uruguayan. The Bianconeri are still interested in him, while the likes of Manchester United are also keen to land him in the summer.
Araujo was widely expected to stay at Barcelona beyond the summer, but following their elimination from the Champions League the club have changed their mind on his future. The Uruguayan came in for heavy criticism following his underwhelming performance against Inter Milan, which has now seen Hansi Flick not count on him in the future.
Barcelona are now ready to offload Araujo in the summer, and could potentially reduce their asking price for the defender. The Catalans are now open to the idea of selling the Uruguayan for as much as €50 million, as the new price point will bring a lot of clubs in the mix for the defender
Manchester United have been linked with a move for Araujo for quite some time and could see their interest pique following the reduction in his asking rate. The Red Devils are in the market to shore up their defence and could view the versatile Barcelona defender as a key addition.
They are not alone in the race, as Chelsea also have an interest while the likes of Juventus are also expected to make their presence felt. As for the versatile Barcelona defender’s future in Catalonia, it appears he could be sold in the coming window.
