According to a report from TBR, Arsenal and Newcastle United could hinder Manchester United’s pursuit of Matheus Cunha. Both clubs are all set to hold talks with the Wolves attackers’ representatives regarding a potential move this summer.
The Red Devils have been working on a potential transfer for some time. They are pushing to get a deal over the line before the end of the season but rivals Arsenal and Newcastle could complicate things.
While things didn’t work out for Cunha at Atletico Madrid, he has revived his career at Wolves and is among the best forwards in England at this point. He has been on fire for them this season. The 25-year-old has been involved in a total of 33 matches and has contributed towards 23 goals.
His performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. Newcastle and Arsenal are two clubs that are interested in his signature. The Magpies want to add more firepower to their attack amidst uncertainty around Alexander Isak’s future.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta is in search of a reliable goal scorer to lead the line. Cunha can not only feature in that number nine role, but he can even feature on the left flank as well as a number ten. He can certainly be a great addition to their squad.
While talks have been ongoing with Manchester United for some time now, the player’s representatives want to keep their options open ahead of the summer. They have meetings scheduled with both the Gunners and the Magpies.
They have held talks with them in the past and these meetings could take things forward. While the rival clubs could spoil the party for the Red Devils, they are still believed to be firmly in control of the situation. The player has already confirmed that he wants to move to Old Trafford and they are just finalising the financial aspects of the deal.
Wolves have already helped out the Manchester-based giants as they are willing to accept deferred payments. With United pushing to complete the transfer before the end of the season, it will be interesting to see whether these talks with Arsenal and Newcastle shift the momentum.
