Chelsea in contact over Alejandro Garnacho move

Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are plotting a summer move for Manchester United attacking sensation Alejandro Garnacho, who is frustrated under Ruben Amorim.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Alejandro Garnacho remains on Chelsea’s radar, with the Blues keen on signing a new left-winger this summer. The Manchester United forward is high on their wishlist, and while a deal couldn’t be struck in January, Chelsea are back in the mix and preparing to make another move as the transfer window approaches.

Garnacho left the Atletico Madrid youth setup to join United in 2020. He went up the ranks at some pace and made quite a name for himself with his performances at the youth level before making his senior debut in 2022.

The Argentine international has only gone from strength to strength over the last few seasons. He contributed towards a total of 17 goals last season and already has 21 goal contributions this season. While the 20-year-old has done a great job on the pitch, his future has been a massive talking point ever since Ruben Amorim took charge of the club.

Alejandro Garnacho to leave Manchester United?

During his initial months at the club, the Portuguese manager had a rift with the youngster, following which he was dropped from the squad. While he has worked his way back into the team and has been putting in consistent performances, the 20-year-old is not enjoying life under Amorim and is ready to part ways with the club.

Despite his massive potential, United are also willing to sanction his departure. They have identified Wolves forward Matheus Cunha as an ideal replacement for the Argentine winger. They are close to securing his services and his arrival is expected to open the door for Garnacho’s sale.

Chelsea remain keen on signing Garnacho

While United are ready to sell, they want in excess of £60 million for the youngster who still has over three years left on his deal. The asking price could be a massive problem for a club like Napoli, who were keen on signing him back in January, but it might not be that big a hurdle for Chelsea.

The Blues are in the market for a new left winger as Mykhailo Mudryk remains suspended and the future of Jadon Sancho and Christopher Nkunku is up in the air. They had their eyes on the United winger during the winter window. While they could get a deal over the line back then, they are optimistic about getting it done this time around.

They have him quite high on their shortlist and have started working on the transfer. They have followed his progress throughout the season and remain in contact with his representatives. With the Red Devils ready to sell, the Blues have a great opportunity to get their hands on a highly rated young forward.
