While Real Madrid already have a star-studded attack, they are constantly on the lookout for ways to further bolster it. They seem to have their eyes on Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who remains an obsession of their president, Florentino Perez.
According to a report from Fichajes, Los Blancos are willing to sell Rodrygo Goes to fund the signing of the Norwegian international. There has been a lot of talk about the Brazilian’s future at the club in recent months and with Arsenal and Chelsea keen, the team in white can certainly look to cash in on him.
Rodrygo joined the Madrid-based outfit back in 2019. He has gone on to establish himself as a key figure in the team and has played a massive role in their last two Champions League triumphs. While the 24-year-old is a very important part of their squad, things haven’t been that great for him this season.
The arrival of Kylian Mbappe has had an effect on his game time and he seems to be a secondary option for them at this stage with Vinicius, Mbappe and Jude Bellingham ahead of him in the pecking order. The player isn’t entirely pleased about the situation and his representatives are already considering making a move away this summer.
While there is no shortage of interest in the Brazilian international, Arsenal and Chelsea are believed to be very serious about their pursuit of his signature. The Gunners want an upgrade on the left flank and Rodrygo can certainly help them take the next step.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are constantly on the lookout for ways to further bolster their attack and the Real Madrid star can surely help their cause. Since he is only 24, he is a good fit for their long-term project and they can surely make a decent investment to get him out of the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid are open to negotiating his departure but they won’t let him leave on the cheap. Given his track record, his age and his massive potential, Los Blancos would want something around €100 to €120 million to sell him.
While Perez does rate him very highly, the president could sanction his departure as it could help him fulfil his desire of having Mbappe and Haaland on the same team. The Norwegian has been on Madrid’s radar for a while now and they have reignited their interest in him amidst uncertainty around Rodrygo’s future.
The €100 to €120 million raised from the Brazilian’s departure could allow Los Blancos to put forward a significant offer to try and sign Haaland, whose price tag is in excess of €170 million. Meanwhile, his wages are at around €30 million per season, as a result, Madrid will certainly have to break the bank for him.
While the former Borussia Dortmund striker recently penned a long-term deal that runs until 2034, his agents have suggested his future isn’t entirely sealed. Given Real Madrid’s pull, it surely is one to keep an eye on.
