Aston Villa rival Newcastle United in Alexander Sorloth chase, West Ham United also keen

Aston Villa are part of the race for Alexander Sorloth alongside Newcastle United and West Ham United, with Atletico Madrid not thinking of a sale.

According to Caught Offside, Alexander Sorloth is attracting sufficient interest from Premier League clubs after yet another stellar season in La Liga. The Norwegian journeyman has had a well-traveled career, as interest from Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham could take him back to the Premier League.

Alexander Sorloth spent a brief period in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, scoring once in 20 appearances across all competitions for the London outfit. They were one of the eleven clubs the Norwegian has featured for in a well-traveled career, with Atletico Madrid being the last of the lot so far.

The 29-year-old came into prominence last season when he finished second in the La Liga’s top scorer’s list during his solitary season with Villarreal. He was soon signed by Atletico Madrid, where he has maintained his goalscoring levels, with 32 goals and assists across all competitions under Diego Simeone, with the Norwegian seemingly playing his best football with the Argentine’s management.

A look at his career trajectory, it appears, since 2015, Sorloth has moved to a new club every year, as the interest from Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United could let him continue that tradition. The Premier League trio are keen on the Norwegian ahead of the summer.

Atletico Madrid are not particularly keen to sell him following a stellar season with the team, although a big offer might tempt them to rethink their stance. Aston Villa are the latest to enter the race as Unai Emery is keen to add a new striker as a direct replacement for the departed Jhon Duran.

Will Alexander Sorloth make his Premier League return?

The idea of playing again in the Premier League might tempt Sorloth, although he’s more than happy with his life at Atletico Madrid right now. Newcastle United are one of those keen, with Eddie Howe eager to sign a new striker as an addition to his squad rather than a replacement for Alexander Isak. The 32 G/A La Liga striker could be a good option given how his profile suits their style.

West Ham United are also in the mix as they were last summer, with Graham Potter looking at many names for the striker role. The Hammers may lag behind the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United, with the dup potentially in a stronger position to offer Champions League football, although the lure of the continental competition may not be enough to sign Sorloth as the Norwegian has this priviledge at Atletico Madrid.
