Bayern Munich, Juventus front-runners to sign Christopher Nkunku

Bayern Munich and Juventus are front-runners for the signature of Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku.

Christopher Nkunku could be on the move this summer, with his Chelsea stint falling short of expectations. While several top European clubs are monitoring the situation, Bayern Munich and Juventus are reportedly leading the race, according to a report from Fichajes.

Nkunku made a name for himself with his consistent performances at RB Leipzig. He was amongst the best attacking players in Europe, as a result, the Blues forked out close to €60 million to acquire his services in the summer of 2023.

Unfortunately, the debut season didn’t really go according to plan as he missed the majority of the campaign because of injury. While he has been available throughout the ongoing season and has made the most out of the limited opportunities he has had, he is not an important part of Enzo Maresca’s plans and the lack of game time has frustrated the 27-year-old.

While he has been involved in a total of 42 matches, he has racked up just over 2,000 minutes of first-team action despite having contributed towards 19 goals (14 goals, 5 assists). He has only had 910 minutes of Premier League action all season long.

Nkunku might be getting back to his best but he currently appears surplus to requirements at Chelsea. Despite having four years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, a summer exit looks increasingly likely.

Nkunku can leave Chelsea for €70 million

The Blues paid around €60 million to add him to their squad and they now want €70 million to sanction his departure. While the asking price is certainly on the higher side, there is still no shortage of interest in him. Bayern Munich and Juventus are believed to be leading the race for his signature.

The German giants are well aware of the 27-year-old’s talent having watched him in action for Leipzig. They believe he could bolster their attack and his versatility could come in handy. They are willing to offer him another opportunity to revive himself in the Bundesliga and compete for major titles.

Meanwhile, the Turin-based club are also looking for more firepower in the final third. They are well aware of the French international’s talent and have already started making moves as they look to sign him this summer. While both clubs are at the front of the queue, Chelsea’s asking price could certainly complete things.
