According to a report from Football Insider, Jack Grealish might be living his final weeks at Manchester City as he looks set for a summer move away from the club. He has informed his friends that he could leave the club after being frozen out by Pep Guardiola throughout the 2024/25 season.
Grealish came up the ranks at Aston Villa and made quite a name for himself while playing for their first team. His consistent performances for the Birmingham-based club resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
While the majority of the clubs wanted to sign him, Manchester City broke the bank and forked out a massive fee to add him to their squad in the summer of 2021. In the initial years, he was a very important part of Pep Guardiola’s plans but of late things haven’t been that great for him.
He might have been involved in 32 fixtures this season but he has been on the pitch for just over 1,500 minutes. Grealish has started just seven league games all season long and he is frustrated by the lack of minutes. He was an unused substitute in their FA Cup final defeat against Crystal Palace last Saturday.
The lack of game time has had a massive impact on his career as he was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first even England squad back in March. He is eager to break back into the scheme of things with the World Cup coming up next summer.
The 29-year-old is set to hold talks with Guardiola about his future. While he hopes to regain his place in the team, if regular first-team action can’t be guaranteed, Grealish will consider leaving the club. He has already told friends he doesn’t expect to be at City next season.
He has confided to those close to him that he has been frozen out of the team by Guardiola as he wants him out. While he certainly has a lot of football left in him and could be a great addition to any club, his massive wages worth £350,000-a-week will certainly complicate things.
Not many clubs in the world can afford to pay that kind of wage. As a result, City might have to consider a loan deal to begin with.
