Rasmus Hojlund increasingly inching closer to Manchester United exit

Manchester United are ready to sell Rasmus Hojlund in the summer after a disastrous season, as Ruben Amorim eyes a replacement.

According to Football Insider, Rasmus Hojlund may not be a Manchester United player next season, with the club now ready to cash in on the Danish international. The striker has had a disastrous season for the Red Devils, as he could be part of the repercussions of failing to win the Europa League.

Manchester United’s season was summed up in Bilbao following their Europa League Final loss to Tottenham Hotspur. The failure to win the second-tier European competition will have major repercussions on their finances, which could see the club make plenty of changes to their squad.

There have been rumblings about their need to land a new striker while Matheus Cunha is a player they are already closing in on. The idea is to bring the Brazilian alongside a new striker to form a new-look Manchester United attacking setup that will suit Ruben Amorim’s system.

As a part of the fallout from their failure to win in Bilbao, Manchester United could potentially sell Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee to fund a move for a new striker, with Liam Delap their top target in that regard. There were links to Viktor Gyokeres, but without Champions League football, it might be extremely difficult to land the Swede ahead of rivals Arsenal, who are very much in the race for the Sporting CP star.

As things stand, it appears, Manchester United might have made their decision on which striker they want to sell as Hojlund seems to be on his way. The Red Devils would reportedly want at least £50 million from his sale as they plan on recouping a chunk of the £72 million they paid Atalanta in the summer of 2023.

Rasmus Hojlund back to Serie A?

The Serie A might be a likely destination with Juventus already linked with a move for Hojlund, as they are planning to sell Dusan Vlahovic in the summer. Former side Atalanta are also keen to re-sign the 22-year-old Erik ten Hag signing from Manchester United, although any move from either Serie A sides will depend on the player’s asking price.

The idea of either of those Italian giants paying as much as 50 million for a striker with 10 goals across all competitions for Manchester United might seem unprecedented. The Red Devils could be forced to reduce their asking price drastically if they are genuinely keen to sell the Dane in the summer.
