According to Football Insider, Emiliano Martinez has been taken up by Joege Mendes’ Gestufute as an A-lister client, which is a big enough indication of the keeper’s desire to quit Aston Villa in the summer. There have been strong rumours as well as other factors that have led to speculation surrounding the World Cup winner’s immediate future, as an exit could be on the cards.
Aston Villa’s final home game of the season ended in a win over Tottenham Hotspur, as they inched closer to a top-five finish. After the match, a teary Emiliano Martinez waved at the home crowd in what was interpreted as a goodbye of sorts, as rumours of an exit had just begun at that point.
There are suggestions that Aston Villa might have to sell a star name to generate funds and stay on the right side of PSR before June 30. Martinez is probably the one they might sell alongside a few others, as Aston Villa are reportedly looking for at least £30 million for the World Cup Winners’ sale.
There are some notable clubs seemingly interested in Martinez, as the keeper has now changed agents. The Argentine World Cup winner is now a part of Jorge Mendes’ Gestifude as an A-lister, as the super-agent will now be in charge of finding him a lucrative move away from Aston Villa.
Aston Villa have a few names as replacements for Martinez, as much will depend on their ability to extract the best possible value for the Argentine. They do have three offers on the table as per a recent report, with suggestions that the World Cup winner would prefer to stay in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Saudi Pro League clubs do have Martinez on their radar, and now that the Argentine has moved with Mendes’ firm, there’s a big chance of a move to the Middle East. The league has been looking for a high-profile keeper for some time now as the Aston Villa man could be a big target ahead of the summer.
Any move to the Middle East will depend on the sort of offers Martinez has on the table. Should a top-level European or an English side come in for him, there’s every chance he snubs a move to Saudi Arabia, although, from the financial standpoint, a move to the Saudi Pro League would make more sense.
