Aston Villa deny Ferran Torres bid, player wants Barcelona stay

Rising Premier League giants Aston Villa have not submitted a bid to sign 25-year-old Spanish international Ferran Torres from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Ferran Torres is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. The Villans are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile attacker. So, the Barcelona forward has emerged as a target for the West Midlands club.

However, the Villans have denied submitting a bid worth €50 million to sign the Spaniard from Barcelona in the summer transfer window. In addition, Torres wants to stay at the Catalan club, and Hansi Flick is happy with his performances after he was the top scorer in the Copa del Rey.

Ferran Torres and a Barcelona rollercoaster

Ferran Torres has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Barcelona from Manchester City in a surprise move in January 2022. While the 25-year-old was exceptional in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, he has been in and out of the starting lineup in the last three seasons.

The Spanish international has played his part in a successful season for Barcelona, even though he has not been a regular starter. Torres has contributed to 26 goals in only 1,921 minutes of game time across 45 appearances in all competitions, finding the back of the net 19 times and providing seven assists.

What next?

Despite not being a regular for Barcelona, Ferran Torres has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Aston Villa. The Villans are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio.

So, Torres has emerged as a viable target for Aston Villa, with recent reports suggesting a bid worth €50 million being on the cards to sign the 25-year-old Spaniard. However, the Villans have denied the impending offer, and they know the player does not want to leave Barcelona.

In addition, Hansi Flick is happy with Torres’s exploits in the 2024/25 season. So, Aston Villa must look elsewhere for offensive reinforcement in the summer transfer window, with the Spanish international likely continuing his spell with Barcelona.
