Aston Villa rival Liverpool, Manchester United in Jesus Rodriguez chase

Aston Villa will reportedly compete with Liverpool and Manchester United to sign 19-year-old Spanish attacking sensation Jesus Rodriguez from La Liga club Real Betis.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, Jesus Rodriguez is the subject of interest from Aston Villa. Liverpool and Manchester United are also keen on signing the teenage sensation from La Liga club Real Betis. Meanwhile, Los Verdiblancos will demand around €35 million to part ways with the Spanish winger in the summer transfer window.

The rapid rise of Jesus Rodriguez

Jesus Rodriguez has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at Real Betis. A native of Seville, the Spaniard has spent his formative years thus far in his hometown while graduating from the youth division at Real Betis.

The 19-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough at Real Betis in the 2024/25 season, turning out 32 times while chipping in with three goals and two assists. Meanwhile, Rodriguez’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Premier League bigwigs like Liverpool, Manchester United, and Aston Villa.

A man in demand

Liverpool may dip into the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window if Luis Diaz departs from Anfield. So, the Spanish attacking sensation has emerged as a viable target for the Merseyside outfit. In addition, Rodriguez’s release clause of €35 million makes him an appealing target for Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Jesus Rodriguez makes sense. The Red Devils want to cash in on Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony in the summer transfer window. In addition, Alejandro Garnacho faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford. So, Rodriguez is an option worth considering for Manchester United.

As for Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford will unlikely complete a permanent move to Villa Park in the summer transfer window. So, the Villans need an alternative to the English international, with the Real Betis attacking sensation emerging as a viable target. The Spaniard should be an affordable target for Aston Villa due to his release clause of €35 million.

Apart from Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Manchester United, several other well-known clubs are keen on signing Rodriguez from Real Betis. It will be interesting to see if the 19-year-old Spanish youth international leaves the Andalusian outfit in a deal worth around €35 million in the summer transfer window.
