Liverpool set asking price for Darwin Nunez

Liverpool are ready to sell Darwin Nunez for €60 million in the summer, with AC Milan and Napoli the teams currently interested in the Uruguayan.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool will demand at least €60 million to sell unwanted striker Darwin Nunez. The striker is very much expected to leave after falling out of Arne Slot’s plans, as Napoli and AC Milan are the teams showing big interest in the 25-year-old Uruguayan in the current window.

Liverpool have had a big impact on the transfer window so far, having made a quickfire move for Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold. They have since followed that signing by agreeing on a move for Florian Wirtz, while Milos Kerkez is also in the pipeline and very much expected to join.

Beyond that, they might still angle a move for a new wide attacker as well as a striker, provided they can sell Darwin Nunez. The 25-year-old Uruguayan has fallen out of Arne Slot’s plans for many months now as the Dutch manager barely used him for many games last season.

Liverpool are keen to sell him and had earlier hoped to recoup most of their money invested in the Uruguayan. However, his stocks have plummeted in the previous campaign, which has forced the Reds to reconsider their stance, as they are now prepared to sell him for around €60 million.

Saudi sides were keen on the Uruguayan, although it is understood the Uruguayan is not keen on a switch to the Middle East at this point of his career. Hence, the idea of joining one of the interested Italian sides appeals to the 25-year-old, as AC Milan and Napoli are very much in the race.

AC Milan or Napoli for Darwin Nunez?

Nunez was recently offered to AC Milan as per reports, with new manager Massimiliano Allegri keen to add a second striker to his squad. They did spend significantly on Santiago Gimenez back in January, although the new manager’s system might require the presence of another high-profile target man. Whether the €60 million price point is something the Rossoneri are willing to spend remains the question.

Meanwhile, Napoli have been in contact for Nunez, with Antonio Conte also keen on landing another high-profile striker to build his squad. The Serie A champions are possibly seen as the favourites given Nunez has already held talks with them, the price tag could be an issue, though there are big opportunities to negotiate with Liverpool to lower the demands for the 25-year-old.
