Theo Hernandez has accepted the move to Al-Hilal, and the Saudi side is putting the finishing touches on the deal with Milan. The fullback was made available this summer since he couldn’t agree to a contract extension with the Rossoneri.
Per Calciomercato, the fullback will earn €20M net annually. He changed his mind after rebuffing the advances during the first transfer window. He’s leaving after six years at San Siro, during which he accumulated 262 appearances, 34 goals, and 45 assists. He contributed to one Scudetto and one Supercoppa Italiana.
Milan and Al-Hilal are ironing out the final details on the fee for Theo Hernandez, but there won’t be problems. The Italian club could renounce something for the deal to go through. The final sum should be around €25M plus some add-ons.
The Rossoneri will dive into the search for a replacement next. Massimiliano Allegri is a big fan of Andrea Cambiaso, but he’s expensive, and Juventus want to keep him. The same goes for Destiny Udogie. Oleksandr Zinchenko has been linked, but he has a rich salary. Club Brugge’s Maxim De Cuyper has been monitored throughout the season. Former Leeds United’s special Junior Firpo and Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell are among the secondary options.
The numbers aren’t great, but it’s better than risking keeping him and losing him for nothing in a year, perhaps even freezing him out. They should probably have pulled the plug last summer, since the renewal never seemed too close. He’s a peculiar and inconsistent player, but he’s a menace on his day. It’s a little odd that more teams weren’t in on him, given the conditions.
