Arsenal have no intention of parting ways with Gabriel Martinelli this summer, despite mounting interest from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, according to Football Insider.
The Brazilian winger, 24, has emerged as a potential target for Vincent Kompany’s newly crowned German title winners, who are looking to add pace and directness to their wide areas. However, despite suggestions that the Gunners are exploring options for a new left-sided winger in the market, it appears they remain fully committed to keeping Martinelli at the Emirates.
While a sizeable offer from Bayern Munich could technically help fund reinforcements elsewhere, Arsenal’s hierarchy are understood to view Martinelli as a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s long-term project. The manager, in particular, is said to be resistant to losing any core players as the club prepares to build on last season’s strong title challenge.
Martinelli featured prominently in 2024/25, making 51 appearances across all competitions and registering ten goals and six assists. Though the player’s output fluctuated in patches, he remains one of the most explosive players in the squad, with his direct style of play and relentless pressing highly valued by Arteta’s tactical setup.
The Brazilian international still has three years remaining on his current deal, which Arsenal can optionally extend by another year. Having joined the club in 2019 for just £6 million from Ituano, Martinelli has since developed into one of the Premier League’s most exciting forwards, amassing over 220 appearances for the North London outfit.
Arsenal are indeed evaluating the transfer market for attacking reinforcements, with a new left winger considered a priority to boost depth and competition in that role. But any new arrival is expected to complement, rather than replace, Martinelli, whose versatility and experience in big games make him a valuable asset for a side aiming to end its wait for a league title.
Arsenal would be foolish to cash in on Martinelli at this stage. While he has not quite hit world-class consistency, the Brazilian is a high-ceiling player who thrives under Arteta’s system. Offloading him to a European rival like Bayern Munich might bring in funds, but it would undermine the continuity Arsenal have been carefully building. Unless a truly transformative winger is secured, Martinelli should remain central to the club’s ambitions moving forward.
