Milan Close to Dated Target After Hitting a Few Roadblocks

Milan are chasing after several midfielders and will have to decide for which one to make an effort, as their initial offers have been rejected. It has been the case for Granit Xhaka, Javi Guerra, and Ardon Jashari. Therefore, they are back in the hunt for Samuele Ricci, Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano report (via SOSFanta).

The Rossoneri struck a deal on personal terms with the Swiss linchpin. They thought they would get him for less than €10M, but Die Aspirin want more, about €15/18M. They are contemplating moving on, considering his age and wages.

Milan made a strong approach for Jashari, but Club Brugge are resisting because he has multiple suitors. The Italian side proposed €27M plus €5M add-ons, but it’s not enough. The Belgian side demands at least €35M, with some room to haggle on the bonuses. The two teams had a long back-and-forth, with a positive resolution, involving Charles De Ketelaere a few years ago.

After encountering those obstacles, the Rossoneri quickly made strides to finally snap up Ricci. The valuation of the Torino captain is €25/28M. He has been very keen on joining for months.

Our Take on the Milan Midfield

Considering they aren’t putting all their eggs in one basket and their standard MO under this ownership, it’s unlikely they’ll nab Jashari, unless he pushes to join them. Javi Guerra appears more feasible, and they are in the same ballpark trait-wise. The boat might have sailed for Xhaka. Given the challenges to sign other targets, they shouldn’t waste time on the Granata star, as Inter and Atalanta could materialize at any time if they lost a midfielder.
