Arsenal in transfer tussle to sign Breno Bidon, make approach

Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 20-year-old Brazilian midfield sensation Breno Bidon from Corinthians in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Breno Bidon is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are eager to bolster their midfield unit in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile midfielder. So, the 20-year-old Corinthians whizkid has emerged as a target for the North London club.

The Premier League heavyweights have submitted an enquiry for the youngster, and they face stiff competition from Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, SL Benfica, Sporting CP, and several other clubs for his signature. Meanwhile, Corinthians will demand around €15 million to part ways with Bidon, even though he has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract.

Who is Breno Bidon?

Breno Bidon is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. A native of Sao Paulo, the 20-year-old spent his formative years in Brazil and graduated from the youth division at Corinthians. He has become a regular for the Brasileirao Serie A club, turning out 70 times thus far while chipping in with two goals and three assists.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian midfield prospect’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Brighton & Hove Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, SL Benfica, Sporting CP, and several other clubs are keen on signing the youngster, with Arsenal aiming to beat the competition to his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Breno Bidon has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is surprising, as the Gunners have reportedly secured agreements to sign two midfielders in the summer transfer window. Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard will move to the Emirates this summer, with Arsenal striking the deal for the latter this week.

However, considering Norgaard is on the wrong side of 30, Bidon can be his long-term successor in a few years. So, the South American midfield sensation has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, with the North London outfit submitting an enquiry over a summer move.

The 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract with Corinthians, but he will be available for around €15 million. That makes Bidon an attractive target, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal will fork out €15 million to beat the competition to his signature.
