Manchester United hit roadblock in Felix Nmecha chase

Manchester United will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old German international Felix Nmecha from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Felix Nmecha is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are eager to bolster their first-team squad in the summer transfer window by signing a versatile midfielder. So, the Borussia Dortmund star has emerged as a target for the struggling Premier League giants.

However, signing the Borussia Dortmund midfielder will not be straightforward for Manchester United, as the Bundesliga giants are unwilling to entertain any bids to part ways with the Hamburg native in the summer transfer window. So, a summer deal will unlikely see the light of day.

Felix Nmecha and his Bundesliga journey

Felix Nmecha has made considerable progress since joining Borussia Dortmund from VfL Wolfsburg in July 2023. While the 24-year-old was born in Germany, he spent his formative years in England and graduated from the highly-rated youth division at Manchester City. However, he has risen in prominence since returning to Germany.

The German international has turned out over 50 times thus far for Borussia Dortmund while chipping in with eight goals and five assists. Meanwhile, Nmecha’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Manchester United will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

England return on the cards?

Manchester United’s interest in Felix Nmecha makes sense. The Red Devils have already parted ways with Christian Eriksen, who will become a free agent in a few days. In addition, Casemiro faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, even though he enjoyed a solid 2024/25 campaign under Ruben Amorim.

So, Manchester United must scour the market for a midfielder, with Nmecha emerging as a viable target. Meanwhile, the Premier League giants are not the only English club pursuing the Borussia Dortmund midfielder’s signature, with recent reports linking him with Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Chelsea.

However, the Bundesliga giants are not ready to part ways with the 24-year-old German international. So, Manchester United must look elsewhere for a midfielder, with a summer move for Nmecha unlikely to see the light of day.
