Tottenham slowing down talks to sign Eberechi Eze

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur attacking target Eberechi Eze.

According to a report from TBR, Daniel Levy’s Tottenham Hotspur are no longer pushing hard to sign Eberechi Eze. While he remains on their wishlist, they have cooled talks to sign him and are focusing on other targets instead.

Eze has only gone from strength to strength since joining Crystal Palace back in 2020 from QPR. Not only has he established himself as a key figure in the Eagles’ first team, but he is also a regular feature in the England national team.

The 27-year-old’s consistent performances at Selhurst Park have put him on the wishlist of multiple top clubs. Tottenham are one of the clubs that have a long-standing interest in his signature. They were keen on signing him back in 2019 as well, when he was still at QPR.

Tottenham pull out of Eze race?

Over the years, they have often been linked with Eze, and of late, they have been considering making a move for the English international. Thomas Frank, who has taken charge as their new boss, is believed to be a massive admirer of the Palace star and has asked the club to secure his services.

While Daniel Levy’s team were looking to knock on the Eagles’ door, they decided against it. Spurs have now slowed their talks to sign the 27-year-old. Not only have they decelerated, but they have also started looking at other options.

West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus is an ideal alternative in their eyes, and they have already stepped up their interest in him as Levy believes he could do wonders under Frank. Tottenham cooling interest in Eze is a massive boost for their rivals Arsenal, who have been keeping a close eye on him.

Arsenal could benefit from Tottenham’s decision

They have been quietly following the situation and are ready to pounce when the time is right. Eze prefers playing as a ten, but he is capable enough to feature anywhere in attack, which will certainly be a massive boost for Mikel Arteta.

While they are keen on his signature, signing him won’t be easy as he is protected by a release clause worth £60 million with an extra £8 million in bonuses. Palace won’t entertain any cut-price offers, and negotiations with Steve Parish are never really easy.
