Manchester United told to pay £35 million to sign Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea have set a £35 million price tag for wantaway attacker Christopher Nkunku, with Manchester United keen on the Frenchman.

According to Fichajes, Manchester United must pay £35 million if they wish to sign Christopher Nkunku. Chelsea are adamant on that price point, as they wish to make a profit on their investment in the Frenchman, who is no longer thought to be part of their plans going forward.

Christopher Nkunku has come in handy for Enzo Maresca during the Club World Cup, but beyond the competition, the Frenchman does not have a future at Chelsea. The Londoners pondered selling him back in January, but a prohibitive price tag may have scuppered any chance of his departure.

Bayern Munich and Manchester United were interested back then, with the latter still in the mood to sign him. The Red Devils are in search of attacking reinforcements, particularly a striker, but a player like Nkunku would help add attacking options to the squad, given that a host of their current stars are poised to depart this summer.

Nkunku can also play in the false-nine role if needed, which is indicative of his versatility. The Frenchman, who contributed to 20 goals for Chelsea during the season, is not seen as a viable part of their plans, given the Blues have already signed brand new attackers such as Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens.

Nkunku is poised to be one of the first departures from Chelsea this summer, as he has been offered to several clubs, including Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal. The Red Devils are interested, but they might consider making a move once they have clarity on other recruits, such as Bryan Mbeumo and a striker.

Chelsea slap a £35 million price tag on Christopher Nkunku

Chelsea are eager to stick to their £35 million asking price for Nkunku, which will allow them to make a decent profit on the investment in the Frenchman. The Blues had even pondered a swap deal with Manchester United involving the wantaway Chelsea ace and Alejandro Garnacho. But after the recent arrivals, a fresh move for the Argentine might be doubtful.

Manchester United might consider bringing in the Frenchman for the £35 million price point, which does fit into their budget to an extent. Whether they are realistically interested in signing him remains the question, but surely, Nkunku is a big option for Ruben Amorim to consider ahead of the new season.
