According to a report by Marca, Everton and West Ham United are both keen on signing Nicolas Tagliafico. The Premier League clubs are involved in a transfer tussle for the signature of the Argentine World Cup winner.
Tagliafico made a name for himself while playing for Ajax before making the move to Lyon in the summer of 2022. He was involved in a total of 102 matches for the French club and ended up contributing towards 19 goals.
While he did have a few injury concerns last season, the 32-year-old was a consistent performer for Lyon last season. He was involved in a total of 33 matches and contributed towards eight goals. While the Ligue 1 outfit were keen on extending his stay, Tagliafico wanted to try a new challenge in the final phase of his career.
As a result, the veteran full-back ran down his contract and is now a free agent. With the World Cup winner available for free, multiple top clubs are pushing for his signature. Sevilla, AS Roma, Everton, and West Ham United are all interested in having the Argentine International in their ranks.
AS Roma are believed to be the front-runners at this stage. Having missed out on Maxim De Cuyper, they are pushing very hard to sign the former Ajax star. But Everton and West Ham are both willing to battle other clubs to snap him up. They have already enquired about the player, who is looking to resolve his future as soon as possible.
Vitaliy Mykolenko is the only out-and-out left-back option in the Merseyside club’s squad, and they would certainly benefit from signing the experienced Tagliafico. Meanwhile, West Ham are looking to add more quality and depth at left-back, and they see the 32-year-old as an ideal fit for their setup.
Both clubs see him as a great market opportunity. While there is no shortage of interest in his signature, they are pushing hard to secure his services.
