Liverpool are always on the hunt for emerging talents, and they appear to have set their sights on a promising youngster from Leicester City. According to a report from Fichajes, the Reds are keen on signing Jeremy Monga, who has been putting in consistent performances for the Foxes’ youth teams and was recently handed his first-team debut.
Monga has come up the ranks at Leicester at some pace. He has been involved with their Under-18s as well as the Under-21s. He has been doing wonders for them at the youth level and his work has in a way forced Ruud van Nistelrooy to hand him his first-team debut.
At just 15, Monga has already experienced the Premier League, and given his immense potential, it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a regular at the highest level. His exceptional technical ability and blistering pace have fast-tracked his development and put him firmly on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the country.
Liverpool are one of the clubs who are keen on adding him to their squad. They consider him a great option for the long run and are willing to knock on the Foxes’ door this summer. The teenager only has a few months left on his deal which could aid their pursuit.
While Leicester would love to tie him down to a new long-term deal, they are not in the best of positions as they have been relegated to the Championship following their defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. With the club set to return to the second division, they could find it very difficult to keep hold of their gem.
More importantly, it could help the Reds in negotiations. While Monga might not be ready to feature in the Liverpool first team, he certainly has the potential to be an important player for them in the long run.
He is capable of operating on either flank and possesses all the attributes of a top-class winger, making him a strong candidate to break into Arne Slot’s team in the near future. As a result, the Merseyside club are keen not to miss out on his signature. An offer from the soon-to-be Premier League champions could well turn the youngster’s head.
