According to Fichajes via CaughtOffside, Arsenal are interested in signing Bilal El Khannouss, who has put in some impressive performances in the Premier League this season. With Leicester City already relegated, the Moroccan international may be unwilling to play in the second division, and the Gunners are looking to capitalise on the opportunity.
El Khannouss came up the ranks at KRC Genk and made a name for himself while playing for the first team before joining the Foxes last summer. He has only gone from strength to strength since moving to England and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
While he prefers playing as an attacking midfielder, the 20-year-old can feature in a deeper role as well as on the flanks. He was involved in a total of 33 games in his debut season at Leicester and ended up contributing towards seven goals.
His contract at the King Power Stadium runs until 2028 but he could push for a move away in the summer following Leicester’s relegation. The Moroccan international is too good for the Championship and he might not want to play in the English second division amidst interest from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Arsenal are one of the clubs that are keen on signing him. The Gunners will certainly look to add more quality and depth to their squad in the summer and El Khannouss could be a great acquisition for the short as well as the long run.
They certainly need more creative options in the centre of the park and the 20-year-old could help them. They have already started talks with the Foxes as they look to get a deal over the line as quickly as possible.
They are reportedly ready to put forward an offer for the youngster, who could be available for a fee of around €30 million. While Leicester wouldn’t want to lose out on one of their young stars, they will be under pressure to raise funds following their relegation and a €30 million offer could certainly tempt them.
Meanwhile, the player could be excited by the prospect of joining the North London club, where he would not only continue playing at the highest level but also compete for major titles.
