Arne Slot has certainly made a big impact in his first season at Anfield, having guided Liverpool to the Premier League title. But the Dutch manager isn’t going to stop there, he is already thinking about areas that need reinforcement.
Slot wants to bring in a world-class striker to lead his attack starting next season. Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is a priority target for the Reds but signing him won’t be that easy. As a result, they do have their eyes on other options as well. According to a report from TBR, the Merseyside club considers Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as a great fit for their club.
Isak has only gone from strength to strength since moving to the Premier League. He is one of the best forwards in the world and the Magpies have no intentions of losing out on him. They are working hard to extend his stay at the club and are willing to make him the highest-paid player in their history.
Liverpool are aware that signing him from a direct rival could prove to be very difficult, as a result, they have their eyes on Osimhen, who will certainly be on the market this summer. After failing out with Napoli, the Nigerian international secured a loan move to Galatasaray last summer.
Prior to his move to Turkiye, he managed to negotiate a lower release clause which means he will be available for around £60 million this summer. While his contract at the Naples-based club is running out, they have no intentions of accepting a lower fee.
Liverpool see Victor Osimhen as a perfect fit for Arne Slot’s system. Having already proven himself in one of Europe’s toughest leagues, the club are keen to bring him in and have been working behind the scenes on a potential move.
Osimhen is keen on moving to England, which can certainly be considered a boost for the Reds but they could face competition from rivals Manchester United and Chelsea. The Red Devils want a proven goal scorer to lead their attack under Ruben Amorim and have been impressed with the Nigerian’s performances while on loan at Galatasaray.
Meanwhile, the Blues have a long-standing interest in him. While Nicolas Jackson has done a decent job in the final third of Enzo Maresca, he seeks more quality and competition in that position. Osimhen can certainly help bolster their attack and take the next step towards pushing for important titles.
