Arsenal and Chelsea leading the race for Leroy Sane

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly leading the race for Leroy Sane ahead of a potential free transfer out of Bayern Munich.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal and Chelsea are seen as front runners to sign Leroy Sane on a free transfer as he’s set to leave Bayern Munich in the summer. The 29-year-old Bundesliga winner could add some much-needed experience and flair for either London club, as any move will depend on the contracts those teams offer.

Leroy Sane could decide his future in the coming period as he seems destined to leave Bayern Munich in the summer. The 29-year-old Bundesliga winner has had a fruitful period with the Bavarians since his move from Manchester City.

Sane has notched four Bundesliga titles during his time in Munich, including one under his former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany’s management. Reports did state he was ready to sign a new deal with Bayern Munich and prolong his stay there.

He was reportedly willing to take a pay cut to stay put, although recent reports have stated he had changed agents which does point towards an imminent exit on a free transfer. Arsenal were one of those willing to make a contract offer, with Mikel Arteta likely to prove pivotal if they were to sign the 29-year-old Bundesliga winner.

The Gunners are in the market for a new wide attacker, although all of those linked so far are of a younger age profile. Arteta also knows Sane from their time together at Manchester City, which could play a role, as Arsenal are seen as one of the front runners for the 29-year-old Bundesliga winner, with Chelsea being the other.

Chelsea to sign Leroy Sane?

Chelsea have moved on from the idea of signing experienced stars since their new owners took over. However, there might be an air of change given they are linked with Sane ahead of the summer. Either the deal, for its feasibility, will be seen as an ambitious coup, or they feel the need to bring a player of the German’s calibre to add some much-needed experience to their otherwise young group.

Chelsea could part ways with Jadon Sancho by paying a hefty penalty to get out of the obligation clause written in his loan deal with Manchester United. Sane could either be seen as a replacement for the English winger or for Christopher Nkunku, with the Frenchman in line to leave Stamford Bridge ahead of the summer.
