According to a report by Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Gabriel Brazao is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Santos stopper. They have submitted an enquiry to Peixe and are mulling over submitting a bid to secure his services.
Gabriel Brazao has resurrected his stuttering fortunes since joining Santos from Inter Milan in February 2024. A native of Uberlândia, the South American shot-stopper spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at Cruzeiro. He then embarked on an adventure in Europe, representing Parma, Inter Milan, Albacete, Real Oviedo, and SPAL.
However, the 24-year-old could not land on his feet in Europe and returned to his homeland in February 2024. Brazao has come leaps and bounds in the last 15 months, going from strength to strength during his spell with Santos. The player has turned out over 50 times thus far for Peixe while keeping 19 clean sheets and conceding 56 goals.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian goalkeeper’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Recent reports have linked the Santos stopper with FC Porto, Galatasaray, and Italian outfits. However, Chelsea will aim to beat the competition to his signature in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea’s interest in Gabriel Brazao is understandable. The Blues are scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window due to the inconsistent displays of Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen this season. So, while several shot-stoppers have joined Chelsea in the last few summer windows, they need an upgrade.
So, several candidates, including Emiliano Martinez, have emerged on Chelsea’s radar, with Brazao also a viable target for the West London club. The Blues have already submitted an enquiry for the Santos goalkeeper, and they are mulling over submitting an offer to secure his services in the summer transfer window.
Considering the competition for Brazao’s signature, securing a spot in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League may tip the scales in Chelsea’s favour. It will be interesting to see if they can sign the 24-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper from Santos.
