According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Chelsea have distanced themselves from any links to Joao Pedro despite reports suggesting they were in talks with the Brazilian attacker. The Blues are in the market for a new striker. However, they may not pursue any deal for the Brighton & Hove Albion star in the window.
Joao Pedro could be a big name in the summer window as many clubs are looking to bolster their attacking setup. The Brazilian forward has had a decent season with Brighton, contributing to 17 goals across all competitions, with most of those coming in the Premier League.
Brighton insisted earlier they were not planning to sell Pedro, who has a contract with the club until 2028 after reports came out suggesting the attacker was unsettled at the club. A lot of top clubs are interested in signing him should he signal an intent to leave the Seagulls.
Liverpool were among those linked with a move, and Arne Slot is actively looking for a striker to replace Darwin Nunez with. Similarly, Arsenal were mentioned as possible suitors for Joao Pedro following their search for a prolific marksman, although there are doubts whether the Brazilian attacker fits into their mould.
Chelsea were reportedly in talks as per a few stories in the media, and as things stand, they have had the strongest links with a move for the Brazilian. The attacker does fit into their idea of a player with regards to the age group as well as the upside for the future, although now there are doubts about whether they are even interested.
Despite some heavy links to Pedro of late, Chelsea have denied any talks with the Brazilian over a potential move. The Stamford Bridge outfit are in the market for a new striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson ahead of the new season, with names like Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap and Benjamin Sesko thought to be players of interest.
As for Joao Pedro, the report states, that Chelsea are not keen on the Brazilian attacker and do not plan to make any move for the Brighton star. Hence, a move to Stamford Bridge could be doubtful for the striker, although one cannot rule out the possibility of him leaving Brighton in the close season for a bigger club.
