West Ham United plot summer move for Igor Jesus

Graham Potter’s West Ham United are keen on acquiring the services of Botafogo attacking sensation Igor Jesus.

West Ham United are keen on signing a new striker this summer and according to a report from Fichajes, the Hammers have their eyes set on Igor Jesus, who has made quite a name for himself with an impressive performance in Botafogo’s opening Club World Cup game.

The 24-year-old had an impressive rise at Coritiba FC, following which he made the move to the Middle East. After spending around four years at Shabab Al-Ahli, he made a return to Brazil to join Botafogo last summer.

The move has certainly worked in his favour as he has established himself as a key figure in the team and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed. He has featured in a total of 56 matches for their first team and has contributed towards 22 goals (16 goals, 6 assists).

While he prefers playing as a number nine, he can also feature in almost every position in the final third. Igor Jesus has placed himself on the radar of multiple top clubs with an outstanding performance in Botafogo’s Club World Cup opener against Seattle Sounders.

West Ham United want Igor Jesus

He found the back of the net and helped his team secure all three points. West Ham are one of the clubs that have taken note of his performance and their scouts in London are closely monitoring him ahead of a potential move this summer.

Graham Potter is in desperate need to sign a new striker and he considers Igor Jesus an ideal fit for his system. His ability to move in and around the box, attack spaced and finish with both feet could make him a valuable addition to their team.

The Hammers are already preparing a formal offer for the 24-year-old as they are aware that any delay from their end could hand an opportunity to other top clubs. Meanwhile, the Rio de Janeiro club know that retaining him won’t be easy if the fee offered meets certain financial conditions.

While the player remains focused on the job at hand, things are slowly taking shape and he could soon have the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League.
